United for Lebanon Against Corruption Alliance (UFL) “Mouttahidoun”:
Day 17 of the Lebanese Authority's Arbitrariness in Seizing the Passport of Corruption Whistleblower Lawyer Rami Ollaik: An Extremely Serious Crime of State Terrorism
Today, June 5, is the seventeenth day since the "Lebanese General Security" unlawfully seized the passport of the founder of the United for Lebanon Against Corruption Alliance (UFL) “Mouttahidoun”, corruption whistleblower and fierce fighter, lawyer Dr. Rami Ollaik. The violation took place under the pretext of anexisting “travel ban” decision against him, the nature of which has not been made clear and no one has yet taken responsibility for it, following his return from traveling to Europe on the night of May 19th, 2024. Much pressure from bank owners and their allies of the corrupt ruling class is believed to be the main cause, due to UFL and Ollaik’s uncompromising fight against their financial corruption including money laundering.
What is happening is a marked “terror” crime that falls under “state terrorism,” a matter that has been flagrantly building up and that requires the “Lebanese State” to be tried before the “International Criminal Court”; the established acts of “genocide” it is committing against its people evidently compiling over the past few years add to it. The “malicious” judicial route taken against Ollaik and the severe violations by the state judiciary and the security and military apparatuses that have occurred are viewed as extremely disturbing and require an urgent sounding of the alarm by all those concerned with “human rights” the least, unless all the noise about“exposing and combating corruption” launched by the “United Nations” and the “international community” is just a lie.
Further alarming details come from the fact that judges and officers from the security and military services have been lately investigating a number of incidents of moral and physical assault on Ollaik, especially the attempted murder to which he was subjected at his residence on July 29, 2023, by elements who claimed to be from “Army Intelligence,” and whose identities have been determined. However, the judiciary has beenprevented from informing the victim, Ollaik, about those behind it, which shows suspicious complicity in the arbitrariness in the recent prosecution of Ollaik, especially after the pressure exerted on the Beirut Bar Association to recently disbar him twice in a precedent and to waive any immunity away from him. As such, not only had the judges and police forces been proven complicit in this, but also they’ve become part of the newest malicious assault against him by the authorities whose role is fundamentally the opposite: Protecting him as a citizen. What’s happening deprives Ollaik of any possible justice and puts his life in danger for his vocal whistleblowing and corruption combatting acts, with the only remaining option for him being the path of "self-defense"!
UFL and its founder place all of this at the disposal of any remaining conscience in the “Lebanese jungle of corruption,” whose authority’s actions have reached an advanced level of police state terrorism, as well as on any global conscience, if any given the complete blackout, in the face of the extreme complicity and obfuscation towards Ollaik; not to mention the many continuing transgressions, including the failure to allow any lawyer or family member to have any contact or communication with Ollaik during the entire period of his detention, as well as repeatedly misleading them regarding his place of detention, or rather “kidnapping;” as well, failure to disclose any accusation, notification or written procedure in accordance with the existent rules so that to wipe away his right to any defense. His passport was arbitrarily confiscated, with a shifting of responsibility between the Public Prosecutor of Appeal in Beirut, Ziyad Abu Haidar, and the officers of the General Directorate of Public Security, such that neither of them took responsibility for the travel ban notice or confiscating the passport in a way that is inconsistent with the minimum rights of the individual and human being; etc.
