Garbage Crisis
After UFL and its partners filed a lawsuit with the Public Prosecution of the Environmental Appeal in the North on August 26,2019, against the Union of Miniyeh Municipalities and the companies implementing the waste sorting and composting plant in Dahour Al-Miniyeh, especially Al-Jihad Company for Trade and Contracting, through which the request was made to operate the waste sorting plant in Miniyeh appearing properly, with the necessary monitoring, accordingly, due to its lack of the required health and environmental conditions, this complaint was referred to the competent Judicial detachment and then to the Governor of the North and to the Gendarmerie Command in the North, after it became evident that the file had been tampered with after numerous reviews.UFL and its partners filed a fraud complaint on June 17, 2020 before the Public Prosecution in the North, the first concerned which is the Governor's office and the Gendarmerie Leadership in the North. In the hope that the Governor of the North will issue a permission to prosecute the perpetrators. The shock came through a decision issued today, Tuesday, July 21, 2020, No. 44 / B / 2020 not to consent to the prosecution and to place this decision with the Environmental Public Prosecutor in the North, Judge Ghassan Bassil, who is now following the case.
UFL, as it puts this issue in the drawing of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, the Public Prosecutor for Discrimination, and all those who have viewed us with their eagerness to combat corruption, considers that it is not strange for someone called the "Governor of the Corruption Farm" to issue such a shocking decision in a case of such importance and sensitivity. The corruption of the Governor of the North, Judge Ramzi Nohra, is not new. Unfortunately, this Governor is "supported" by the Free Patriotic Movement, which provides him with a wide cover, leaving no room for trust between him and every person seeking to fight corruption, as well as most of those affected by it, especially the people of the North.
However, this decision will not pass in line with UFL continued pursuit of the file by all available means, including the request to those concerned with combating corruption mentioned to intervene immediately. In additionto the daily follow-up with the European Union, so that the case reaches its conclusion by holding accountable the perpetrators of the Miniyeh Union of Municipalities and the undertakers, along with the "Governor of the Corruption Farm".All of this is in order for the Lebanese in general particularly the people of the North to get rid of the tragedies that they are experiencing as a result of actions such as those carried out by Nohra in protecting the corrupt, which have led to severe damage to people's lives and health.
