UFL addresses the European Union about judicial abuses after imposing the latest sanctions
On August 6, 2021, United for Lebanon anti corruption Alliance (UFL) sent a letter to the Council of the EU to follow up on the file of judicial abuses and the flagrant and increasing infringement of citizens’ rights. The Council was provided with the report documenting the abuses of the Information Division against Attorney Rami Ollaik and the two activists, Charbel Razzouk and Tony Orian.
This step comes after the EU approved a series of sanctions targeting Lebanese individuals and entities, in the context of highlighting the extent of suffering and restrictions faced by the Lebanese and directly affecting the freedom of opinion, expression and democracy in Lebanon, especially those measures and sanctions imposed by some judges such as Ghassan Oweidat, Ghassan Khoury and others.
UFL demanded that the EU takes immediate measures such as banning travel, transferring money, etc. to those people, and stops dealing with and supporting the Information Division and anyone who obstructs the proper course of justice.
