How We Work
Action is initiated through two approaches:
- Being proactive: Watchdogging and tracking corruption practices to act upon them.
- Receiving complaints from the public: Fact-checking and assessment to determine veracity and eligibility.
The three teams in action:
Legal: Building a case through:
- Conducting research and collecting evidence: Overcoming the disinformation system limitations.
- Determining jurisdiction: Special attention to the corrupt judicial system.
- Constructing a lawsuit: Documenting available relevant sources.
- Pressing charges: Considering practical obstacles.
- Following up: Applying pressure and persistence.
Media: Creating public awareness campaigns through:
- Creating content: Legal Team as a primary source; newsfeed as a secondary source.
- Running the proper edits: Referring to Legal Team for the proper connotations.
- Constructing and sending a press release: Using Arabic as the main language and English as applicable; covering local and international news agencies and media outlets.
- Publishing on own social media platforms: Website, YouTube, Webmail, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, other.
- Monitoring and collecting feedback: Focusing on overcoming media blackouts run by corruption networks.
Support: Coordinating among teams and providing logistical backup through:
- Office space setting and arrangements: Facilitating efficient, effective and optimal workflow; receiving and accommodating the public.
- Fieldwork: Preparing material and allocating available resources for demonstrations and activities.
- Conducting the needed PR: Running formal communications and outreach.
For official status requirements and accountability purposes, UFL acts through a non-governmental organization, Association for Human and Economic Abilities Development (AHEAD) run by UFL members.
UFL team members are always ready to answer inquiries by the public and provide preliminary legal consultations at no cost. UFL is always committed to helping out the public with anti-corruption efforts and procedures, doing extensive pro bono work and reducing cost representation especially for clients who cannot afford to pay. UFL relies heavily on the efforts of its team members, supporters, volunteers and donors, being fully independent and self-financed.
